Science of Music: Take the Beat Back
Learners uncover the everyday origins of some extraordinary instruments! This interactive exploration sparks interest and engages users in learning about the African Diaspora. Interactive animations, engaging videos, text, and info-graphics demonstrate the ingenuity of ordinary people who succeeded in preserving their cultures despite having been forcibly transplanted to new lands and enslaved. The science behind the sound is also explored.
As part of the Science of Music, this learning experience won an American Alliance of Museums "MUSE" award.
